My connection to the water started with childhood memories, and was shaped by humble beginnings—fishing past sunset, cooking our catch in neighborhood blue-collar garages, swimming until the light disappeared, and learning to kite-surf on Superior.

At the time, it was just life. Looking back, it was the foundation for everything that followed.

Zephyr Maui was not built from a polished plan, know-how,  or backed by investors. It began with uncertainty—and a decision to trust it.

At 23, after a chance encounter while kite-surfing at Sugar Beach in Kīhei in October 2019, I was presented with an opportunity. I chose to take it. I emptied my savings, sold my truck, and parted with a few of my most valued cameras to scrape together a single, hard-to-obtain permit—one that simply allowed me to operate on the waters of Maui. 

There was no existing business. No blueprint.  Just belief, risk, and the willingness to begin.

The early days demanded everything—long hours, constant problem-solving, and learning through experience. There were moments of doubt, would this ever become something real? But they were always outweighed by a deeper conviction: that if you care enough about what you’re creating and who you’re creating it for, you’ll find a way forward.

Over time, Zephyr Maui grew—not by chance, but through intention, persistence, and a commitment to excellence in every detail.

Today, we focus on creating intimate, elevated experiences on the water. Every guest interaction is personal. Every outing is thoughtfully crafted. Every detail is intentional. This has never been about volume—it’s about quality, authenticity, and creating something truly meaningful.

Our team is a small ‘ohana of handpicked guides who share a deep respect for the ocean and for each other. We take pride in what we do, and we never lose sight of what makes it special.
